SCOTTY MAC
DJ/Designer/Disciple of Deepness

From exclusive affairs held at California’s swankiest poolside lounges… to the Midwest’s notorious all-night warehouse parties… to Miami Beach’s massive 50,000+ person outdoor festivals… to the deepest underground clubs of Tokyo Japan, veteran jock Scotty Mac has been commanding the wheels of steel now for nearly two decades, spreading his highly infectious brand of multi-genre melding vibe that consistently leaves devastated dancefloors both large and small chanting “Just one more! Just one more! Just one more!…”.

As a longtime, trusted favorite of the Midwest EDM scene, Scotty Mac is regularly called upon to take musical control of the night or to share the stage with many of the world’s leading dance music talents. He was voted a two time winner and recently nominated for the fifth year in a row as Saint Louis’ ‘Best Club DJ’ in his homebase city’s Riverfront Times as well as earning the coveted ‘Reader’s Choice Award’ for the same title. The Mac now sets his sights on uncharted dancefloors to spread the sonic love to virgin ears and versed aficionados alike.

His crates are deep and his seasoned knowledge of what moves crowds is even deeper. He’s known for an ever-evolving, signature sound that’s comprised of old school classics, new school bombs, all killer, no filler, plus healthy doses of groovin’ percussion, smoked-out keys, organic vibes, quirky basslines, exotic rhythms and those unexpected left-turn rarities that come flying straight out of nowhere. Genre shmanra—if it’s hot, it’s in the mix. From the smooth and seductive to downright jumpin’ n’ bumpin’, Scotty Mac expertly crafts the entire experience into a seamless, diverse, eclectic journey that’s custom built for your mind, body and soul. Be sure to dress to get down and prepare to sweat because this is the good stuff baby!

“As a DJ, Scotty Mac isn’t afraid to challenge himself — or seek out new ways to improve and refine his sets at Rue 13, Upstairs Lounge and Thaxton Speakeasy. Mac’s bio on www.blackscience.com, describes his sound as being “comprised of old school classics, new school bombs, all killer, no filler, plus healthy doses of groovin’ percussion, smoked-out keys, organic vibes, quirky basslines, exotic rhythms and those unexpected left-turn rarities that come flying straight out of nowhere.” Well said. ” — Riverfront Times, Saint Louis

“Best DJ” Top 5 Finalist

“Whether he’s spinning deep warehouse for a Fly event at the Upstairs Lounge, tribal on Sunday afternoon at F15teen, soul on Lush’s rooftop patio or entertaining a recent disco obsession in the basement of the Thaxton, Scotty Mac is targeting those who are on the periphery, nodding their heads. They’ll be dancing soon — his mixes are dynamic and slick, his transitions are as undetectable as he wants them to be, and his tracks always have one thing in common: fun.” — Riverfront Times, Saint Louis

“If you’re at Upstairs Lounge for one of the monthly FLY events and you see a broadly smiling guy with a trademark flat cap on his head — the kind the chimney sweeps wore in Mary Poppins — that’s Scotty Mac. Say hi and bask in the same warmth he deftly packages into the house music he sometimes spins at the helm of FLY events, or as part of his latest venture at Upstairs Lounge, Kinky Disco. Scotty Mac’s music will clear up any misconceptions of electronic music as cold or inaccessible; although he experiments with different genres, his sound is characteristically warm, dusky, fluid and human. And Scotty’s so devoid of fussy pretension that you might not even realize in casual conversation that he’s soundboard royalty. He’s been at it more than fifteen years, as long or longer than anyone else in St. Louis. Don’t assume that his easy candor translates to a cavalier attitude about music — he spins a darkly inviting, seamless summer sound with the wizened proficiency of a sage.” — Riverfront Times, Saint Louis

“Scotty Mac has to be one of the busiest DJs in town. The man is everywhere. Xes, Mercury, the Speakeasy at Lucas School House, Atomic Cowboy, the Feisty Bulldog — he seems to get gigs at every club, event and opening in the city, and not for nothin’. Scotty Mac spins smooth, ultra-dancable house music, featuring thumping bass and graceful song transitions. He sports a toothy smile the entire time he plays, encouraging the audience to enjoy themselves and let their dance moves flow. Scotty Mac’s magnetic charm is a big part of his appeal, always cheering on clubgoers and reflecting back any positive attention he receives.” — Riverfront Times, Saint Louis

2006 Riverfront Times Saint Louis
“Best DJ” Top 5 Finalist

Article: www.riverfronttimes.com

“DJs often seem to be competing with each other to see who can make the most seamless song transition, or who can throw down the most obscure, hard-to-find wax. But Scotty Mac needs none of this white-label pretense. He seems to be in the DJ game for one thing only: to make some booties bump. He plays “house” music, a danceable genre of electronica rooted in disco and jazz. He spins tenacious tracks featuring big-voiced divas and comfortably predictable beats that manage to keep the energy high and the clubbers shakin’ it.” — Riverfront Times, Saint Louis
